How We Shortlist Tools for Toolspace Select?

Toolspace Select is a collection of some best open-source tools we want to highlight. We know there are tons of interesting tools out there, a majority of which we’re planning to add to Toolspace Explore; however, we also want to bring some tools to the fore through Toolspace Select ✨.

This page elucidates our selection criteria. The more the affirmative responses, the greater the likeliness of a tool to be featured on our select page.

  • On a scale of 1 to 10, how useful is the tool to developers.
  • How frequently is the tool code updated.
  • How quickly are the issues tackled.
  • How well can the tool be understood at first glance.
  • How easy it is to get started with the tool.
  • How responsive are the maintainers.
  • How easy it is to contribute to the tool.
  • How well the tool is documented.
  • On a scale of 1 to 10, what the likelihood of the tool is to be recommended.
  • Community health

In addition to the aforementioned criteria, we may also evaluate a tool by answering some subjective questions, like the unique features a tool offers and how it is different from its alternatives (if any). The usual process we follow post shortlisting a tool is by approaching the contributors to provide us with some data, after which we add it to our directory and share it across our social media!
